What Is Equity Accounting?

Sometimes, companies have ownership interests in companies other than themselves. Typically, the equity method or so-called equity accounting is a process in order to record investments in associated entities. This method is employed only when the investing company can have considerable influence over the investee together with owning 20-50% of the investee company.
